The Hidden Heartbreak Behind the Spotlight: Blue Bloods Star Len Cariou Faces Betrayal

The Reagan Family Reunites: Len Cariou Returns as Henry “Pop” Reagan in Boston Blue

The Reagan family is making its way to Boston Blue, and longtime Blue Bloods fans have plenty to look forward to. As the new series continues its first season, several familiar faces from the original show are set to return, including one of the family’s most beloved members—Henry “Pop” Reagan.

Donnie Wahlberg, who reprises his role as Danny Reagan in Boston Blue, recently confirmed that Len Cariou will return as Henry Reagan, Danny’s wise and respected grandfather.

“Grandpa Reagan’s going to be showing up, and Erin’s going to show up again,” Wahlberg revealed in a recent interview.

Cariou will reprise his iconic role in Season 1, Episode 13, titled “Beautiful Broken Things,” which is scheduled to air on April 13.

Henry Reagan Returns

For longtime Blue Bloods viewers, Henry “Pop” Reagan needs little introduction. As the former NYPD commissioner and patriarch of the Reagan family, Henry served as the moral compass of the family throughout the show’s 14-season run. He is the father of Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) and the grandfather of Danny, Erin (Bridget Moynahan), Jamie (Will Estes), and their late brother, Joe.

Although Len Cariou is only about six years older than Tom Selleck in real life, he convincingly portrayed Frank’s father, becoming a fan favorite through his heartfelt advice and memorable appearances at the Reagan family’s iconic Sunday dinner table.

Cariou Was Saddened by Blue Bloods’ Ending

Like many of his castmates, Cariou admitted he was disappointed when Blue Bloods came to an end after 293 episodes.

“It’s too bad,” he said. “It doesn’t make any sense. We’re still, I think, the best-watched show on Friday nights, even though we’re canceled.”

Beyond the show’s ratings success, Cariou said what he would miss most was working alongside the cast.

“We all get along terribly well,” he shared. “And that doesn’t happen every time out.”

More Familiar Faces Are Coming

Cariou won’t be the only Reagan returning to Boston Blue. Bridget Moynahan is also set to reprise her role as Erin Reagan, while Marisa Ramirez will return as Maria Baez, Danny Reagan’s former partner and current girlfriend.

Series creators Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier have hinted that even more familiar faces from Blue Bloods will appear as the season unfolds.

“We can tell you that Erin will not be the only one,” Sonnier said. Margolis added, “There are new characters that will show up. We will meet more members of the Silver family, and we will see members of the Reagan family we have not yet seen.”

As Boston Blue expands its story while honoring its roots, the return of beloved Reagan family members promises to deliver plenty of nostalgic moments for longtime fans.

The second half of Boston Blue Season 1 premieres on Friday, February 27, 2026, on CBS, with episodes streaming the following day on Paramount+.
