Surprise Return: Blue Bloods Comes Back for Season 15

Boston Blue Returns With New Episodes — and More Reagan Family Members Are on the Way

After a lengthy winter break, Boston Blue is preparing to return with brand-new episodes, bringing even more connections to the beloved Reagan family.

The Blue Bloods spin-off, which premiered in October 2025, has been on hiatus since December. Now, the CBS drama is set to resume its first season with fresh storylines, familiar faces, and new developments for Danny Reagan.

Starring Donnie Wahlberg, Boston Blue follows Danny after he leaves New York for Boston, where he joins the Boston Police Department and begins working alongside Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green). As he settles into his new role, Danny becomes part of the influential Silver family, another close-knit law enforcement dynasty.

According to co-showrunner Brandon Sonnier, the series intentionally focused on introducing the Silver family during its opening episodes before bringing more of the Reagan family into the spotlight.

“We really wanted to establish the Silvers first,” Sonnier told TVLine in December 2025. “But now, especially after the midseason finale, we’re embracing the Reagans as part of the larger Silver family.”

Without revealing every surprise, Sonnier hinted that viewers can expect additional members of the Reagan family to appear before the season concludes, including characters who have not yet appeared in the spin-off.

Fans have already seen Bridget Moynahan reprise her role as Erin Reagan in the series premiere, and she is scheduled to return later in the season. Donnie Wahlberg also confirmed during a Television Critics Association panel that Len Cariou will reprise his role as family patriarch Henry Reagan in Episode 13, marking another reunion from the original Blue Bloods cast.

When Does Boston Blue Return?

The series returns with new episodes on February 27 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS, with streaming availability on Paramount+ the following day.

The upcoming episode, titled “Hard Truths,” follows the aftermath of a convicted killer’s release from prison. Jonah continues to wrestle with grief and anger as he confronts the man responsible for Ben’s death, placing strain on his family’s relationships. At the same time, Mae and Sarah are forced to face revelations that could dramatically alter their future.

Meanwhile, Danny Reagan and Lena Silver investigate a dangerous new case that uncovers long-buried secrets and pushes unexpected allies to work together.

As the first season enters its final stretch, Boston Blue looks set to deepen its connections to Blue Bloods while continuing to build its own identity with new characters, new cases, and the return of some of the franchise’s most familiar faces.
