Boston Blue Renewed for Season 2 as CBS Confirms Fall 2026 Return

CBS has officially renewed Boston Blue for a second season after the Blue Bloods spinoff quickly established itself as one of the network’s biggest new dramas. Following a strong debut in fall 2025, the series earned an early renewal, giving fans plenty to look forward to after the Season 1 finale.

The network announced the renewal on December 3, just weeks after Boston Blue premiered on October 17 alongside fellow freshman drama Sheriff Country. With Season 1 set to conclude on May 22, viewers can already look ahead to Danny Reagan’s next chapter.

CBS has confirmed that Boston Blue will return during the fall 2026 television season.

While an exact premiere date has not yet been announced, the series is expected to continue airing through the 2026–27 broadcast season.

Boston Blue follows Danny Reagan as he builds a new career with the Boston Police Department while becoming closely connected to the influential Silver family.

The series blends new characters with familiar faces from Blue Bloods, allowing the franchise to expand while maintaining strong ties to the Reagan family.

Season 1 also explored Danny’s evolving relationship with Maria Baez. After finally becoming a couple, the pair faced the challenges of a long-distance romance, leading to a breakup late in the season. Whether they reconcile remains one of the major questions heading into Season 2.

Since premiering on October 17, Boston Blue has performed strongly for CBS.

According to the network, the series has averaged approximately 8 million viewers across Nielsen Live+7 and multiplatform viewing. Streaming performance has also been especially impressive, with viewership reportedly up 87% compared with Blue Bloods during the same period the previous year.

The show has consistently won its Friday 10/9c time slot, reinforcing CBS’s decision to renew the series early.
