After the Storm: Will Estes and the Quiet After a Relationship Ends

Boston Blue finally gave fans their first glimpse of Jamie Reagan and Eddie Janko’s growing family, delivering a heartfelt surprise in Season 1, Episode 12.

Although Will Estes and Vanessa Ray did not appear on screen, the episode confirmed that Jamie and Eddie are now parents to a baby boy. The reveal came through a photo sent to Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), showing the infant dressed in a festive St. Patrick’s Day outfit. The image also introduced his name: Joe Francis Reagan.

The baby’s name carries special significance for longtime Blue Bloods viewers. “Joe” honors Danny and Jamie’s late older brother, Joe Reagan, who was killed in the line of duty before the events of the original series. “Francis” pays tribute to family patriarch Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), whose full name is Francis Xavier Reagan.

The St. Patrick’s Day-themed episode featured several nods to the Reagan family’s history. The investigation centered on the same criminal organization linked to the death of Danny’s wife, Linda Reagan (Amy Carlson), echoing the revenge-driven storyline that played a major role in Blue Bloods.

Family traditions also took center stage. Danny and his son Sean reminisced about the Reagans’ annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration in New York while discussing the holiday with members of the Silver family. The conversation highlighted the Reagans’ deep Irish heritage and their tradition of gathering for a family feast, a celebration Danny and Sean were disappointed to miss. In a touching gesture, the Silvers organized their own holiday meal, strengthening the growing bond between the two families.

Fans hoping to see Jamie, Eddie, and baby Joe in person on Boston Blue may still get their wish. Series co-creator Brandon Margolis has not confirmed a cameo but indicated that the creative team is eager to bring more members of the Reagan family into the series following its Season 2 renewal.

Margolis explained that the show’s continuation creates more opportunities to reunite familiar characters with Danny and Sean, adding that the producers are actively looking for storylines that would naturally welcome more Reagans back into the expanding Blue Bloods universe. Meanwhile, viewers can look forward to Len Cariou’s return as Henry “Pop” Reagan in an upcoming episode.
