The Wait Is Over: CBS Announces the Blue Bloods Season 15 Premiere Date

Len Cariou Returns as Henry Reagan in New Boston Blue Midseason Trailer

The Reagan family is making another appearance in Boston Blue.

CBS has released the show’s midseason trailer, giving fans their first glimpse of Blue Bloods favorite Len Cariou returning as Henry Reagan in the spin-off series. The preview marks the beloved actor’s debut on Boston Blue, bringing another familiar face from the original drama into Danny Reagan’s new world.

In the trailer, Henry Reagan joins Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), and District Attorney Mae Silver (Gloria Reuben) as they discuss an ongoing investigation. Looking over the case, Henry asks, “So, what do we got?” Danny then jokes with his Boston colleagues, “Now you know where I got it from,” highlighting the family resemblance in their investigative instincts.

Beyond Henry’s return, the trailer teases an intense second half of the season. The Boston team continues dealing with the fallout from the dramatic midseason finale as explosive action, dangerous shootouts, and emotional family moments unfold. One touching scene features Lena encouraging her younger brother, rookie officer Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner), reminding him that wearing the badge makes him part of a much larger family.

Wahlberg first revealed that Cariou would appear in Boston Blue during a Television Critics Association panel, later confirming that Bridget Moynahan would also reprise her role as Erin Reagan. Cariou portrayed Henry Reagan throughout all 14 seasons of Blue Bloods, making his return especially meaningful for longtime fans.

Premiering in October, Boston Blue follows Danny Reagan after he relocates from New York to Boston to be closer to his son Sean, now a rookie with the Boston Police Department. As Danny settles into his new city, he finds himself working alongside the Silver family, another close-knit law enforcement clan whose dynamic echoes that of the Reagans.

The series has already welcomed several familiar faces from Blue Bloods, including Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan and Marisa Ramirez as Detective Maria Baez, Danny’s longtime partner and trusted friend.

Although Blue Bloods concluded its 14-season run in December 2024 after more than a decade on CBS, its legacy continues through the spin-off. The new series also introduces Mika Amonsen as Sean Reagan, taking over the role previously played by Andrew Terraciano.

One original cast member has yet to make the move to Boston. Tom Selleck, who portrayed Commissioner Frank Reagan throughout Blue Bloods, has said he is uncertain about appearing in the spin-off. Speaking to Hour Detroit, Selleck explained that he views Boston Blue as its own series and suggested that Frank Reagan’s story may have already reached its natural conclusion.
