On February 22, 2013 I left a note on my parents’ kitchen table. They would catch me later in the square, in San Giovanni, in Rome. We had a certainty in our hearts: we were writing a page of history.
That night was so unique. A collective anger turned to hope. A people who no longer wanted to stay and watch. From there we entered the Institutions.
And we really changed that story. And we’re still changing it. We took inside the buildings the voices of those who were not heard outside. We have chosen to respond only to the needs of people, communities, territories. We have no lobby to account for.
We have only one responsibility: to give voice to those who have lost their voice, to those who can no longer fight alone.
Today, like then, let’s put ethics first.
Today, like then, let’s let facts speak.
Today, like then, let’s put our hearts over the obstacle.
It wasn’t easy. It ain’t even now.
But we continue, with resilience and clear goals, because there are still many things to do.
Starting with the defense of our Constitution, the rule of law, the dignity of people.
Because politics, when it is true, is care.
Thirteen years later, that hope hasn’t extinguished, it has morphed into experience, awareness, determination. And he keeps walking with us.
Long live the MoVimento 5 Stelle
Long live us.
