Jennifer Esposito
Danny Reagan’s tough, sharp-witted partner disappeared early in Season 3, with the show explaining Jackie’s absence as a “leave of absence” due to job related stress. Behind the scenes, the situation was far more serious. Esposito collapsed on set due to complications from celiac disease and requested a modified schedule. She later claimed CBS put her on unpaid leave instead and questioned the legitimacy of her illness. The network argued she could only work part-time and couldn’t meet the production’s needs. Although written out, Esposito later returned briefly for guest appearances.
Amy Carlson
Carlson exited Blue Bloods after Season 7 when her contract expired and she decided it was time to pursue new opportunities. The series shocked fans by revealing in the Season 8 premiere that Linda had died off-screen in a helicopter crash. Carlson later expressed that she wouldn’t have chosen such an abrupt end for her character and wished viewers had been given more closure.
Sami Gayle
