The recast comes as producers plan a major storyline shift, with Sean following the family tradition and joining the police force.

What’s Boston Blue About?
The new drama follows Danny Reagan after he relocates to Boston to serve as a detective with the city’s police department. He is paired with Detective Lena Silver, daughter of a powerful Boston law enforcement family.

The cast continues to expand with notable additions:

  • Ernie Hudson will play Reverend Peters, patriarch of the Silver family, a respected pastor known for his open-minded leadership.

  • Gloria Reuben will portray matriarch Mae Silver.

Blue Bloods, led by Tom Selleck, wrapped its 14-season run in December 2024. While CBS has not yet revealed why Danny makes the move from New York to Boston, the storyline is already shaping up to be a major turning point in the Reagan legacy.
