CBS’ upcoming Blue Bloods offshoot is expanding the Reagan family once again though one familiar face will look a bit different when he arrives.
Boston Blue, described as a “universe expansion” of the long-running family/crime drama, will air Fridays at 10/9c this fall and follows Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan as he begins a new chapter with the Boston Police Department. There, he’s partnered with Detective Lena Silver , the eldest daughter of a powerful Boston law enforcement family.
But Danny isn’t the only Reagan making the move from New York to Boston.
Mika Amonsen known for The Republic of Sarah, Hudson & Rex, and the 2023 slasher Thanksgiving has joined the series as a regular, stepping into the role of Sean Reagan, Danny’s youngest son. Sean was originally portrayed throughout all 14 seasons of Blue Bloods by Andrew Terraciano, in what was nearly his sole acting credit.
In Boston Blue, Sean has relocated to Boston to begin his own journey as a Boston PD patrolman a choice that ultimately sets the stage for Danny’s relocation as well. According to the official character description, “Sean committed himself to pursuing his family’s legacy but wanted to do so on his own terms, which meant joining a department outside of his hometown. Danny’s decision to stay in Boston gives this father and son duo a chance to reconnect on a deeper level.”
The cast of Boston Blue also includes Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver, the family matriarch and Boston’s District Attorney; Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters, Lena’s grandfather and the pastor of a historic Baptist church; Maggie Lawson as Superintendent Sarah Silver, Lena’s strong willed, decisive stepsister; and Marcus Scribner as Jonah, Lena and Sarah’s rookie
cop brother.
