Donnie Wahlberg Sparks Fresh Hope for Blue Bloods Fans Following What Was Believed to Be the Show’s Final Season.

Donnie Wahlberg isn’t ready to close the door on Blue Bloods and he believes fans shouldn’t, either.

Though CBS confirmed that Season 14 would be the show’s final chapter, Wahlberg sparked fresh optimism during a July New Kids on the Block concert. When asked about the series, he hinted that the Reagan family’s story might not be finished just yet. His comment drew loud cheers from the crowd, prompting him to add, “You know I’ll do things after Blue Bloods no matter what.”

While Wahlberg emphasized that nothing has been officially decided, his remarks reignited hope that the beloved family could return in some form   whether through a revival, a movie, a spinoff, or another continuation.

The End of an Era  For Now

CBS announced in November 2023 that Blue Bloods would conclude with Season 14. The network split the season into two parts, with the first ten episodes airing in February and the final eight set to premiere this fall.

Since its 2010 debut, the series has centered on the personal and professional lives of the Reagan family, many of whom serve in the NYPD under Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, played by Tom Selleck. The show also follows Frank’s father Henry (Len Cariou) and his children Danny (Wahlberg), Erin (Bridget Moynahan), and Jamie (Will Estes).

Tom Selleck Reflects on the Goodbye

Following the cancellation announcement, Tom Selleck, 79, shared an emotional statement marking his 13-year run on the show.

“For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family,” he said. Selleck thanked the cast, crew, writers, producers, and the fans who had “gathered with us for dinner every Friday night” for more than 275 episodes.

Wahlberg’s Emotional Final-Day Message

Wahlberg also delivered a heartfelt message on the final day of filming, acknowledging the difficulty of accepting the show’s end. In a CBS video, he reflected on the challenges of recent years:

“Four years ago we were in this room and none of us knew if we would ever see each other again for a lot worse reasons,” he said. “We didn’t know what was going to happen in this world, and somehow we got another few years together.”

He went on to express hope that the cast would reunite someday.
“I would just be honored to work with any of you again, and I pray that that can happen,” he continued. “One way or another, I won’t give up trying.”

A Future Not Confirmed  But Far From Impossible

While CBS has made no official moves to revive Blue Bloods, Wahlberg’s comments suggest that ideas or discussions may already be circulating. For fans, even a hint of possibility is enough to keep the door open as Season 14’s final episodes approach.

Whether the Reagans return to TV or reunite through another project, Wahlberg’s message is unmistakable: he’s not done with Blue Bloods  and he knows the fans aren’t, either.
