Boston Blue has quickly emerged as one of fall 2025’s most watched new series, and CBS is rewarding that success with an early renewal. The network has officially picked up the Blue Bloods spinoff for a second season, renewing it alongside fellow Friday
night newcomer Sheriff Country, a spinoff of Fire Country. The renewals were announced Wednesday, December 3.
Starring Donnie Wahlberg, Boston Blue follows former NYPD detective Danny Reagan as he relocates to Boston with his son, Sean, to begin a new chapter. As they settle into their new city, the Reagans form close ties with one of Boston’s most prominent law enforcement families, the Silvers. Danny is partnered with Detective Lena Silver, portrayed by Sonequa Martin Green, forging both professional and personal connections that anchor the series.
After just six episodes, the show has already proven to be a ratings standout.
“Two new shows on Friday night have become instant hits, with audiences quickly embracing Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across broadcast and streaming,” said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment. “These early renewals reflect the power of character driven storytelling, compelling narratives, and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out.”
