Tom Selleck has been busy promoting his new memoir, You Never Know, and he recently celebrated a major moment with help from his Blue Bloods family. On May 7, the actor appeared at the 92nd Street Y for a live discussion and Q&A, hosted by none other than his on-screen daughter, Bridget Moynahan.
Moynahan later shared photos from the event on social media, calling Selleck an “icon” and praising his storytelling.
You Never Know opens with a gripping account of a car accident Selleck survived at age 17 while driving on Mulholland Drive. From there, the memoir traces his journey through college at the University of Southern California, his military service after being drafted in 1967 during the Vietnam War era, and his eventual rise in Hollywood. He reflects on career milestones including his Emmy-winning role in Magnum P.I., his fan-favorite run as Richard on Friends, and his long tenure as Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods.
Since its premiere in 2010, Blue Bloods has followed the Reagan family’s deep legacy in New York law enforcement, with Frank at the helm, sons Danny and Jamie in the NYPD, and daughter Erin serving as an assistant district attorney. The series has remained a ratings powerhouse throughout its run.
Selleck Pushes Back on CBS Decision
Selleck isn’t shy about his feelings regarding CBS’s decision to end the series this December. He insists the show is still thriving, noting that Blue Bloods remains the third highest-rated scripted broadcast and continues to win its time slot. According to Selleck, the cast is eager to keep going, and the series shows no signs of slowing down.
However, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach has stood firm, calling the conclusion necessary as the network looks toward refreshing its lineup. Despite the ongoing debate, fans are grateful for the celebration of Selleck’s milestone
and hopeful the story of the Reagans hasn’t reached its final chapter just yet.
