In the Season 10 finale of Blue Bloods, Sean uncovers a long-lost family secret through a school DNA project leading to the shocking discovery of Joe Hill, the son of Frank Reagan’s murdered child, Joe. Introduced as an NYPD detective, Joe’s arrival adds a new layer of complexity to the Reagan family dynamic, as his first appearance at the family dinner table is met with a mix of curiosity and cautious acceptance. The role is portrayed by actor Will Hochman, whose face may already be familiar to many viewers.
Hochman, a Brooklyn native, found his passion for acting while studying at Colby College. Though he graduated with a degree in economics, he immersed himself in theater and quickly set his sights on the stage. His most notable Broadway role came in The Sound Inside, where he played Christopher, a troubled Yale student opposite Tony Award-winner Mary
Louise Parker. In interviews, Hochman praised Parker as an extraordinary and “titanic” talent.
Before joining Blue Bloods, Hochman built a strong reputation in theater. He made his professional debut as Knox, the idealistic romantic lead, in the stage adaptation of Dead Poets Society. Earlier, he portrayed John Proctor in a scene from Arthur Miller’s The Crucible during his senior year, offering an early glimpse of his dramatic range and intensity.
While widely recognized for his stage work, Hochman made a memorable television debut as Joe Hill on Blue Bloods. Executive producer Kevin Wade has hinted that Joe’s presence would play a significant role in shaping the Reagan family storylines moving forward.
Beyond the series, Hochman has also showcased his creativity behind the camera, writing, directing, and starring in the short film Fifteen. He further demonstrated his versatility by portraying Lord Montague in a live-streamed Romeo and Juliet production benefiting Mount Sinai Hospital.
His screen career continues to expand with appearances in feature films such as Let Him Go, starring Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, and Critical Thinking, directed by John Leguizamo, highlighting his growing presence both on stage and screen.
