With Blue Bloods preparing to wrap after 14 seasons, many fans are wondering whether the franchise could live on through spin-offs. Abigail Hawk best known as Detective Abigail Baker, Frank Reagan’s trusted assistant recently shared her thoughts on the future of the Blue Bloods universe.
Hawk believes a spin-off is possible, but thinks it would need to move beyond New York City to avoid interfering with the Reagan family’s story. She suggested that exploring different eras such as a historical series focused on the early days of the NYPD could offer a fresh perspective and new storytelling opportunities.
When it comes to a prequel centered on a young Frank Reagan, however, Hawk is more cautious. She questioned who could ever fill Tom Selleck’s shoes, admitting, “I almost wonder if it would have to be someone completely new.” She floated Tom Hardy as a potential option, noting his rugged yet sensitive acting style in projects like Venom, though she acknowledged his busy schedule including the upcoming action thriller Havoc
makes him an unlikely candidate.
While the idea of expanding the franchise is intriguing, Hawk recognized that any spin-off would face the challenge of honoring Blue Bloods’ long and beloved legacy.
