Tom Selleck Turns 80 with a Celebration Reminiscent of Blue Bloods Beloved Traditions

Tom Selleck is preparing to celebrate a major milestone his 80th birthday just as Blue Bloods concludes its nearly 15 year run. In a recent interview, the famously private actor opened up about his plans and reflections as both events approach.

Selleck admitted that birthdays no longer hold much fanfare for him, and this year will be no exception. He shared that he plans to keep things simple: “I’ll probably have dinner with my brother, sister, and Jillie,” he said, adding that he doesn’t intend to “make a big deal of it.”

This understated celebration echoes the iconic family dinners that defined Blue Bloods. The actor explained that his own holiday traditions at his 65-acre California ranch where he lives with his wife, Jillie Mack, and their daughter, professional equestrian Hannah Selleck also revolve around closeness and family time.

Christmas remains particularly meaningful, though gathering everyone at the family’s historic 1910 hunting lodge has become trickier as the family grows.

With Blue Bloods ending, Selleck expressed a heartfelt wish to reunite with the cast and crew he considers his second family. When asked whether he took anything from the set, he revealed he still owns Frank Reagan’s engraved Rolex and Marine Corps ring treasured keepsakes from his years on the show. “I couldn’t bring his desk with me, but that would have been neat,” he joked.
