If you ask a group of Blue Bloods fans who their favorite character is, Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan will likely receive more than a few votes. From the very first episode, where he cracked an incredibly complex missing persons case in record time, the NYPD detective established himself as a central figure in the series.
Longtime viewers have enjoyed watching the Reagan son deliver justice time and again even if some question the exact boundaries of Danny’s methods. While he is undeniably a fan favorite, that doesn’t mean everyone views him as an ideal character. In fact, few main characters in Blue Bloods have a history as complicated and morally questionable as Danny’s, as he has repeatedly walked the fine line between law enforcement and vigilantism.
However, there was another major issue that caused frustration among viewers during the show’s early seasons and affected their overall perception of him.
Danny’s anger problem was hard to ignore.
When Blue Bloods first premiered, Danny was portrayed as the classic tough cop aggressive, confrontational, and often too harsh toward both criminals and colleagues. He appeared as a hot-tempered officer struggling with personal demons. And while his character does evolve over time even developing a relationship that fans remain divided over

traces of that explosive behavior lingered, making it difficult for some viewers to warm up to him.
“I think Danny’s anger issues are really annoying,” one commenter noted. “He never faces any real consequences for how he acts, and it just keeps happening more and more.”
Despite this, many longtime fans acknowledge that Danny grows as the series progresses. “I really disliked Danny at the beginning,” said one viewer, Aphrodite Rose. “He was my least favorite character at first, but I like him much more now. I don’t want to spoil anything, but he definitely matures and improves.”
