Although Blue Bloods ended in 2024, its legacy continues through CBS’s successful spinoff Boston Blue, led by Donnie Wahlberg. In a recent interview with Parade, Wahlberg opened up about Tom Selleck’s reaction to the new series and whether a reunion might be on the horizon.
“Of course, I spoke to Tom the minute I was deciding if this was something I was going to do,” Wahlberg revealed. “He’s been very supportive.” While he didn’t confirm any cameo plans, the actor made it clear he’d welcome Selleck’s return. “Would I love for Tom to come up to Boston? Sure. Or for Danny to go to New York and visit Frank? Absolutely.”
Wahlberg hinted that if the right storyline presents itself, Selleck could reprise his iconic role as Commissioner Frank Reagan. “Tom’s always going to base his decisions on the material. When the time comes, hopefully we’ll craft something that moves his heart,” he said.
He also teased the possibility of other familiar faces returning. Bridget Moynahan has already reprised her role as Erin Reagan and even directed an episode. “We’re looking for opportunities to bring back other Reagans and characters when the time is right,” Wahlberg added.
Boston Blue premiered on October 17 on CBS and Paramount+, following Danny Reagan as he joins the Boston Police Department after a life-changing case involving his son, Sean
. With a strong debut and a 20-episode first season, the series proves that fans aren’t ready to say goodbye to the Reagan family just yet.
