It’s a Reagan family reunion right from the start in the new Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue!
Bridget Moynahan is set to make a special guest appearance in the series premiere, reprising her beloved role as Erin Reagan. The new series follows Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan as he takes on a fresh chapter in Boston, working as a detective with the Boston PD. While it’s still a mystery what brings Erin to town, fans can expect her to have plenty to say about her brother’s big move to Massachusetts. Moynahan will also step behind the camera to direct an episode this season.
Boston Blue premieres Friday, October 17 at 10/9c on CBS.
Wahlberg shared the exciting update with a photo of himself and Moynahan on Instagram on July 18, writing:
“Reunited and it feels so good! So excited to have my dear friend and TV sister @bridgetmoynahan join me for a special guest appearance in the premiere episode of #BostonBlue! She’ll also be bringing her incredible directing talents to the show this season! More fun to come.”
The new series expands the Blue Bloods universe and offers a fresh look into Danny’s life after leaving New York. Following the recasting of Danny’s son Sean now played by Mika Amonsen the show reveals that Sean has relocated to Boston to begin his career as a patrol officer. Danny’s decision to stay in the city gives father and son a chance to strengthen their bond.
Once in Boston, Danny partners with Detective Lena Silver, the eldest daughter in a well-known law enforcement family.
The cast also includes:
-
Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver
-
Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver
-
Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver
-
Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters
Boston Blue is produced by CBS Studios in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television. Showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis executive produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed, and Donnie Wahlberg.
