According to the actor, he initially assumed that a potential spinoff could be filmed in a more affordable location such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas or Texas. When Boston was suggested, however, he immediately embraced the idea.

The excitement reportedly changed when Wahlberg learned how expensive it would be to produce the series in Boston.

The actor said he even offered to give up a significant portion of his salary if it meant the production could film in the city. Despite his offer, the production ultimately determined that filming the series in Boston would still be financially impractical.

As a result, Toronto serves as the primary filming location for Boston Blue, despite the show’s Boston setting.
