Why some Blue Bloods fans love Eddie Janko-Reagan and others don’t

The “will they or won’t they” trope is a familiar one in television. Sometimes writers drag out the tension, and other times they send viewers into heartbreak by derailing the romance entirely.

On Blue Bloods, that long-running question centered on partners-turned-lovers Jamie Reagan  and Eddie Janko. After years of working side by side and clashing just as often the pair finally tied the knot in Season 9. Their marriage ended the romantic suspense fans had grown used to, but it opened the door to a new storyline: the constant struggle between being partners at home and partners on the job.

However, not every fan is thrilled with how the relationship has evolved.

One viewer expressed frustration on Reddit, saying, “I think the writers should really review the way this character behaves. It’s terrible that she is a never-ending contradiction to herself.” The poster went on to note that Eddie “whines about Jamie not having her back, then turns around and berates him for coming to her aid. Jamie puts her in her place one minute and apologizes the next.”

It’s a bold take but not an uncommon one. Many fans have questioned whether Eddie’s reactions feel inconsistent or unfair to Jamie.

A major source of tension is the power dynamic in their relationship. While they’re married, Jamie is also her superior officer, which means he’s obligated to make decisions based on protocol, not emotion. For some viewers, Eddie struggles to separate the personal from the professional.

“I’m not a fan of her character,” another fan wrote. “It’s as if anything triggers her, and then she starts bullying Jamie even when he’s just doing his job. She wants him to do things differently so the other cops will like her.”

With opinions sharply split, it’s clear that Eddie Janko-Reagan has become one of the show’s most polarizing characters and the debate over her relationship with Jamie isn’t disappearing anytime soon.
