Tom Selleck is dedicating himself to regaining strength and mobility as he sets his sights on new acting opportunities following the end of Blue Bloods. The 79-year-old actor, best known for portraying NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan for 14 seasons, is determined to keep his career thriving  and even hopes to return to horseback riding.

Tom meant it when he said he wants to get back on a horse,” a source tells Closer. He’s faced some mobility challenges, but he’s putting in the work to overcome them.

After Blue Bloods aired its series finale on December 13, 2024 drawing an impressive 6.68 million viewers Selleck shifted his focus toward his health. His routine now includes weight training, Tai Chi, physiotherapy, swimming, and long walks with his wife, all supported by a strict diet aimed at improving balance and shedding extra pounds.

With his 80th birthday on the horizon, Selleck’s drive hasn’t waned. He has a lot more he wants to accomplish, the insider shares. He’s especially eager to land a role in one of Taylor Sheridan’s shows like Yellowstone that goal is keeping him motivated.

Selleck reassured fans shortly after the Blue Bloods finale that he has no plans to slow down. You change physically over 15 years, but I don’t intend to stop working, he told Entertainment Tonight on December 14.
